Tropical Storm Claudette

Tropical Storm Claudette continues to churn in the central Caribbean tonight. The storm has been encountering strong upper-level winds which have been preventing the system from strengthening at this time. The storm has managed to maintain some strength and with upper-level conditions forecast to become more favorable, further development remains a possibility. The storm passed well south of Jamaica and should pass south of Grand Cayman, but it is taking aim at the Yucatan Peninsula. Residents along the U.S. Gulf Coast should monitor the progress of Claudette as the storm could move into the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend.
